I am trained in Trauma Focused CBT, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Eye Movement Desensitization Processing (EMDR). Youth (ages 14-25) and trauma survivors have unique needs; it is important to find a therapist that understands this and has the appropriate training and experience. Let's work together and learn how each part of you has unique needs and how you can meet them.
I have specialized training in treating a range of issues including but not limited to anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, grief and loss, neurodiversity, life transitions and adjustments, LGBTQ+ issues, relational issues and anger problems. I have completed graduate level certificate programs in traumatic stress studies and addiction/substance-abuse treatment. Additionally, I am Christian and feel confident in incorporating faith into the healing process for all who are open to deepening their grace-based relationship with God. I am also very passionate about my work with military-connected persons, first responders, and their families. Traumatic stress is a common consequence of being a part of these communities. It is beneficial to seek support to prevent the development of psychological effects due to this stress and treatment for existing psychological symptoms can keep servicemember, veterans, first responders and their families "mission ready."
Therapy is about developing a relationship between you and your therapist, where you can progress through life challenges and work together to find solutions, understanding, and healing. I consider you the expert on yourself. We will work together to explore solutions that will work for you and your needs.

About Me
With advanced certifications in Traumatic Stress Studies, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS)- informed therapy, I bring a wealth of tools to help clients achieve growth and resilience. I love to teach, and as a student of lessons learned the hard way, I would like to educate you about trauma and how it intersects with who you have and will become. I would enjoy giving you back control of your lived experience.
Additionally, you have difficulty communicating to others, if you feel you are always misunderstood, if you feel like you have to overexplain to be known, I can help. The emotional turmoil that comes from the unmet needs of neurodivergence is real and can be a source of developmental trauma. Let's talk about how your mind works and get to know how capable you really are!
I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing and wholeness.
My Story
Welcome—I’m Alison.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) in North Carolina with a passion for helping people navigate trauma, anxiety, life transitions, and the challenges that can come with simply trying to keep moving forward.
As a survivor of domestic violence, I understand that the effects of trauma can extend far beyond the experience itself. Trauma can change the way we think, feel, respond to stress, connect with others, and experience safety in our everyday lives. You don't have to have a diagnosis of PTSD—or wait until things become overwhelming—to benefit from therapy. With the right support, greater understanding of how trauma affects the nervous system, and a willingness to do the work, healing is possible.
I have a particular passion for working with first responders, their families, active-duty service members, veterans, and other military-connected individuals. As a former military spouse and first responder spouse, I have firsthand experience with the unique demands that can come with these professions and lifestyles. I understand the expectations to remain strong, keep moving, and take care of everyone else—even when the impact of the job begins following you home.
I have pursued additional training in traumatic stress and utilize trauma-focused approaches to help clients process difficult experiences, manage anxiety and stress responses, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with the parts of life that matter most to them. My goal isn't simply to help you “get through” what happened. It is to help you understand what is happening within you, develop tools that work in your everyday life, and move toward a life that feels like your own again.
I believe you deserve a space where you don't have to be the strong one, have all the answers, or explain why something affected you the way it did.
You don't have to navigate it alone.
I welcome you to schedule a consultation so we can talk about what you're experiencing, determine whether we're a good fit, and discuss what your next steps toward healing could look like.
